A whole-school responsibility

Every member of staff — teachers, support staff, governors, therapists and volunteers — understands that safeguarding is their responsibility. We act effectively in the best interests of every student.

Rigorous safer recruitment

All staff and volunteers are subject to enhanced DBS checks and complete mandatory safeguarding training before working with students, with ongoing annual training to keep practice current.

Effective reporting systems

All staff are trained to use CPOMS — our system for reporting, recording and monitoring concerns — ensuring concerns are acted upon quickly and consistently.

CPOMS Safeguarding Integration

All staff are trained in using CPOMS — our system for reporting, recording and monitoring concerns. We are dedicated to promoting safe practice and building effective partnerships with all those involved in providing services for children across the authority.

Working Together to Safeguard Children

Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. The government’s Working Together to Safeguard Children (2026) guidance explains how schools, health services, social care, and other organisations work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

We also follow the Children’s Social Care National Framework to align our protective action plans, staff training, and external collaboration directly with established statutory procedures.

We believe that the best way to keep children safe is by working in partnership with parents and carers. We will always listen, offer support, and involve families in decisions wherever possible. Safeguarding is most effective when everyone is working in the same direction — and that starts with open, honest communication.
