Physical Literacy at Warmley Park

What is Physical Literacy?

Physical literacy is the foundation for a healthy, active lifestyle. At Warmley Park, we believe that movement is not just a physical activity, but a crucial pathway to learning, self-expression, and independence. Our highly individualized approach ensures every student, regardless of starting point, finds joy and confidence in being active.

Through structured play, adaptive physical education, and sensory-rich movement experiences, we support students in building essential motor and life skills. By focusing on personal milestones, we foster a safe environment where progress is celebrated, and personal limits are positively and supportively challenged.

Our comprehensive curriculum integrates physical literacy across the school day, encouraging students to develop lifelong habits of wellness. We empower them with the resilience, knowledge, and confidence to remain active, connected, and healthy as they grow and transition into adulthood.

Motivation & Confidence

Building a positive attitude toward physical activity by nurturing self-belief, excitement, and emotional readiness.

Physical Competence

Developing fundamental movement skills, coordination, and physical capacities tailored to each student’s unique abilities.

Knowledge & Understanding

Understanding the benefits of active living, safety, and how movement nourishes overall health and cognitive well-being.

Active for Life

Establishing lifelong habits, social connection, and a sustainable love for play, sports, and recreational activities.

School Games

Warmley Park participates in the School Games programme — a Government and Sport England initiative that provides competitive and inclusive sporting opportunities for schools. Participation in School Games competitions and festivals is an important part of our physical literacy offer.
