Prevent is part of the UK Government's counter-terrorism strategy and forms an important part of our safeguarding responsibilities — protecting children, young people and vulnerable individuals from being drawn into terrorism or exposed to extremist views.
The Prevent duty
The Prevent Duty Guidance sets out clear expectations for schools. All frontline staff should understand and be able to act on the following responsibilities.
Understand radicalisation — know what radicalisation is and recognise why some individuals may be vulnerable to extremist influences.
Know the definitions — be aware of the meaning of extremism and the relationship between extremism and terrorism.
Know available support — understand what support and interventions are available to help prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism.
Respond appropriately — know how to respond and seek support for anyone who may be vulnerable to radicalisation.

Prevent at Warmley Park
Staff training
All staff complete annual Prevent training to ensure they understand the signs of radicalisation and know how to respond to concerns appropriately.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSLs undertake advanced Prevent training to provide expert support and guidance across the school.
